It's a bulllllseye! And here's your host...

Well its nice to be back in Orc's Drift!

As I haven't quite got the archers all done for the Severed Hand Tribe (nearly complete!) thought I'd kick an idea around for their shield design...

As much as I like these little shields from Hasslefree - I'm not quite up to painting convincing and elaborate designs on the grain of the wood! As I've done the quartered look with Ozrim's Dwarf engineers, I thougt I'd try something different - concentric circles.... or an archery target!

Not sure if I'm 100% sold on it at the moment - a few too many rings perhaps? Anyway, I'd love to know your thoughts on the matter and maybe I could even get this small unit done by the weekend so I can get started on Hagar/Ugezod...

  1. I like it! It's the sort of cargo-culting I'd expect from greenskins - targets help you aim better, right?

  2. Not sure myself, seams a bit too neat for Orcs and a good way to say, "oi pansies, over ere, shoot us."

Just one like this is fine but a whole unit?
A good mix of designs would look great.

  3. I like it. Orcs are so hard they paint targets on their shields!

  4. Thanks for the comments chaps - know where you're coming from Erny and it crossed my mind too.

Mind you I want them to be a bit garish - orcs who shoot arrers aren't quite right in the head - should be in the thick of things crumpin' with the rest of the ladz!

As Saturday and Von suggest it is good Orcish logic - targetz makes you shoot better!

I should have a few archers painted up soon so you might see what I mean about Orcs with airs and graces...

Jury's still out on the shields me thinks...
