I spy with my bulging, long dead eye...

... a new project!

Well start of one which WILL wait until I've finished Orcs Drift!

Its all the fault of a lovely gent on the LAF who goes by the name of Phreedh, who has not only tempted me with some great pics of his undead warband in his Songs of Stillburg thread - http://www.lead-adventure.de/index.php?topic=18222.0, but has also done me a deal on some rather nice undead minis too.

Anyways I have the remnants of my old plastic Citadel Skeleton Horde to resurrect when I get tired of painting orcs and the nice old character models wending their way through the post to look forward to!

Not sure what I'll use these chaps for apart from some other random SOBH scenarios I might dream up if I ever get time to play...

This fellow was bought on a whim on ebay along with some orcs a while back and I felt inspired to paint him up in anticipation of this little side project!

The first soldier of Baron Kraust's Band of Lost Souls...

Far over the misty mountains cold...

To dungeons deep and caverns old

We must away ere break of day

To seek the pale enchanted gold...

Another two of Borinn's gold prospectors and they're getting meaner. The chap with the small treasure chest is, I believe the dwarf treasure hunter that came with the citadel green dragon - quite fitting really considering his new role - not overly happy with his face - might go back to it when its not so hot and I've more time...

His partner in crime is another great little mini, which sits well with the backstory for these less than honourable dwarfs...

A wooden bed is better than a golden coffin...

Well we'll find out what these stout fellows think as the hounds of the Severed Hand tribe bear down on their little illicit gold mining operation in the Ashak Rise scenario - two of Borinn's fellow deserting dwarven desperados...

Looking forward to the next bunch (nine more to finish the unit) - it seems Borinn's clan may have been infiltrated by gnomes...

Eight out of ten cats prefer... Gobbos!

Bit of light relief with these chaps and also a way of including the manticore as part of a general Orcy warband - instead of it wandering around independently and unrealistically?! following the orc players commands like a well trained hound! I'll have to think up some rules for the range of control these plucky gobbos have on the beast and what might happen if it gets loose...

Flag and bone man

Evenin' all - still catching up with the weekend's backlog of painted stuff...

Tonight's offering is one of the nice old standard bearers who, although pictured with the Quae Karr tribe, will probably end up with the Vile Rune boys as his tribal totem matches their skull motif a bit better - anal or what?!

You want to see a Doctor about that...

Another humorously named Orc character this morning - Bagrash, the Kwae Karr shaman, faithful, if sycophantic follower of King Fyarr.

As the original scenario figures seem to be going for silly money on ebay I've decided to use the shaman mini from the old War Wyvern set -great value even back in the 80s - 1 big ugly Wyvern, choice of 2 riders and a shaman!

Here he is pictures with Magyar Ironfist and some of the Kwae Karr Tribe, advancing on Orc's Drift...

As much use as a chocolate...

Fyarr Guard!

Being slow on the uptake I'd not noticed the joke in these chap's name until I noticed I had five Big'uns that would fit the bill nicely for this little unit... D'oh!

A tough little unit which should come in handy in case any of the Chiefs get any mutinous ideas at the battle of Orc's Drift, especially that shifty character, Magyar Ironfist, upstart chieftain of Fyarr's old tribe, the Kwae Karr Orcs...

Eye Eye Cap'n!!

Right loads to post tonight but its getting late...

Got loads of painting done at the weekend but managed to leave the camera at work on Friday so bit of a backlog...

First up is Fangor Gripe, Chief of the feared Vile Rune Orcs. Great mini and slightly unusual in that he only has one eye - no mention of his cyclopity in the rules - just makes him look like a nasty chaotic bugger!

Fangor has a little secret he wants to stay secret - his opting out from the battle of Fendal Plain during the Goblin Wars of the previous year could land him in hot water. The only soul to know of his cowardly decision is Silas Meel, the half orc spy being held by the Wood Elf garrison at Kachas Pass. It would be a shame if Guthrum Mane accidently stood on him during the raid on the garrison's mountain outpost...

Just the one pic as the others didn't work out on close inspection and its far too late to retake them.
