Lustrian Loot!

I don't often go for "Look what I just got!" type posts but I couldn't resist this time!

Due to a busy half term...

...looking after the kids while the wife has been at uni, I haven't been able to make it down to the Post Office depot, having received one of those horrible red cards of Doom the postie leaves when you're out.

Which has been killing me because I knew this chap was probably inside one of them!

I've been after this guy for ages but he's always gone for more than I could justify. Well I took the plunge and lets just say I got it for less than the one that's been hanging around ebay for £40 on Buy it now for ages.

I also managed to finally lay my hands on this wondrous beastie, the Coatl - another that has proved elusive until now.

Now I just need to write them into my Lustrian campaign somehow...

    2. I'm going to have to reappraise my top 10 minis now that I've secured a fair few of them...

    1. Cheers Mr S - I've got a few ideas on how to include him in the Slann warband so far. Gurgyll Greenwake is a renegade from the Slann Empire you see - along with his rag tag band of desperadoes, orphaned by Norse raiders and out for revenge and so not really the types who would be knocking around with important Imperial dignitaries such as this high ranking Wizard.

However, I can see Greenwake coming across this official of the Empire being born along by his slaves and perhaps escorted by his household cavalry (the Cold One Riders I painted and converted a while back) as they flee somewhat ignominiously from yet another Norse raid on one of the Empire's crumbling cities. Without anywhere else to go and perhaps even facing terrible consequences for dereliction of duty, our cowardly Slann wizard is forced to become a somewhat haughty and reluctant renegade himself...

The Coatl will probably become a GM controlled character and possible ally for Sven. Apparently they are a prized delicacy among the pygmies so maybe a rescue mission might be in order should I go down the road of assembling a pygmy tribe, for which the Coatl may reward Sven and his company with assistance in the hour of their need.

  3. I for one am getting quite taken with the image of a adventurer party chugging upstream on their boat into the heaving heart of the jungle abyss. In fact, I am looking forward to it more than most of the forthcoming 2013 cinema 'blockbusters'.

    1. I'll do my best to live up to the hype!

I reckon I'm sold on building the Volksvagn at some point, even though this project is now officially too big for our house!

  4. Well done. Less than £40? £39.99? Looking forward to seeing it painted, and the coatl.

    1. Just a smidgen over £30 :)

I am working to clear the decks so I can get started. I want to get the Dark Elf Blood Bowl team done in time for a game at the end of March and this play through of Mayhem done and reported and then I'm free!

    2. Good price. I try and gauge the amount of pleasure I will get from owning and painting the figure to convince myself it's worth the investment....it's persuading the Mrs. that's the problem... Great to have clear goals too, to get painting done.

    3. Yep, I thought so - plus the fact that you're effectively getting 6 minis and the palanquin for the price. The missus doesn't know about this one yet though...

Clear goals but no deadlines ;)

  5. Some great new additions! What a wonderful Lustria collection you're going to have! Can't wait to see them painted and tramping/gliding through your own personal heart of darkness!

  6. I love the way you have painted your Slann, and good to see someone else taking care and attention of the old style slann. The Palanquins are fun to paint.
I have just started my own blog for 1980's era miniatures. Not sure on blog etiquette, so I hope this is'nt not done, but here is a link to my very new blog, now with added Slann!

    1. Many thanks Lee - yours look great too and in such numbers!

I've got the palanquin pegged in for a paint job in a few weeks time so should be posting it up soon...

Cheers for the link - great blog you have there. I'll put in a mention on the Oldhammer blog. You should check out the Blood forum too if you're not already there.
