Some more muscle...

The warband grows each day as more ne'er-do-wells collect upon my desk...

Another big guy and two more orcs - the ogre painted up real nice if I do say so myself. He's the first of a trio who might become a little band themselves if I see any more going cheap...

To come are the ogre shaman with the big mace and the ogre mercenary.

Notice the orc head attached to his belt - if I ever have the time or the inclination to come up with some fluff for this lot I think the severed head may well end up belonging to the band's former orc musician - a tone deaf drummer who liked to "sing" along with his drumming - beheading was the only solution after wiring his jaws together did little to stop the racket!

And two more narsty orcses - bit battered these two so it took a while to get the details looking nice and defined on them - especialy the faces...

Also started trying my hand at freehand shield designs - some way to go yet before I'm happy I think...

Tried to paint the shield boss/spike as a tongue to go with the gaping maw design! I think the mouth needs to look a little more dynamic though!

Now I've finally got my hands on a replacement Ruglud mini  I'll have to knuckle down and paint the backbone of the rabble - Ruglud's Armoured Orcs!

A not so noble savage, an orc with pretentions and a noisy little bugger..

Been a busy weekend this -

Three more for the tribe...

a stray savage orc who's tagged along and performs the dual duties of scout and tin-opener

A goblin horn blower

and an arrer boy with a taste for Bretonnian fashion...

Why oh why oh Wyvern...

Why oh why did I let this lovely old mini (one of the first I ever bought !) languish in bits for so many years?!

Well its back together - pinned this time - and with a nice new coat of paint and looking a lot better than it did some 17 years ago when it was last in one piece!

Think I'm pretty much happy with the paint job - need to paint the other side of the banner and would like to do some proper verdigris on the bronze saddle after I've experimented a bit first...

I also need to paint some more elves up so it won't go hungry!

Snot easy being green...

These chaps were supposed to be a little aside while I was working on the Wtvern - they proved somewhat more fiddlt than anticipated - I take back what I said about 15mm wargaming!

Anyway they're done now - could possibly be neater but they've taken enough time now - might leave the other nine for another time - especially as I'd like to model a burrow entrance for them to burst out of...

Pull thumb out bum...

Spent a happy weekend last week stripping a load of my old orcs of my original, awful paint jobs. Among them was my pride and joy and possibly the first mini I ever bought - the Orc War Wyvern. Once I'd stripped the paint off I whiled away an enjoyable hour or so reassembling it, pinning joints and maskin joins...

Anyway thought I'd post some unfinished piccies to get my arse moving - not been a good week for painting because of sleep deprivation, work, wine, company of heroes and fallout 3 - not necessarily in that order!

Looking forward to a week off next week where I paint more lead than interior doors (next DIY job that needs finishing before the next bairn arrives!).

Also on the way are the two other orcs that came with the Wyvern

... and Ruglud's Armoured Orcs - minus Ruglud and their crossbows!

Its not easy being green...

Had another pop at the troll's skin tones as I felt they were a bit bright and too samey with the rest of the orcs. Gave him a few watered down brown ink washes and a green/brown mix ink wash - hope the results don't look too crude but it is a troll after all!

Say hello to my little friend...

As promised one brave, or extremely stupid companion for the Troll.

Quite like the skin tone I achieved on the snotling so might have to apply some more brown in the mix from now on to avoid dayglo goblins...

Also quite liked the fact that he only took twenty minutes or so to paint - 15mm wargaming looks quite appealing now!

Trollert!

Another ugly mug to join the band - one of Citadel's old trolls. I tried to go for a darker green skin tone to help him stand out from the Orcs but as successive highlights went on the colour seemed to gravitate back to the usual snot green - If I'm feeling brave enough might give him a brown wash to see what happens, or at least practice on a goblin first!

Talking of snot this old Troll might be joined by a little friend in the near future...

Big Orc, Little Orc...

Well big orc and little goblin - two more for the warband.

Like the orc's face but the rest of the sculpt isn't amazing - Grom on the otherhand is one cool little goblin - always wanted this mini ever since I saw it in the Goblinoids Citadel Combat Card deck!
