I smell Bacon...

Yay - back to the Greenskins finally - first of my unit of Snortas! Thanks to Hetz for procuring this pair, which brings my old lot up to a unit of 10 models.

Anyhow, as my old minis are still in the process of being stripped here are the newest additions painted up -

Norses for Courses

So finally got the other Norsemen done for my little warband, although not played any games yet...

Anghered the Angry...

Erik Erikson - the leader...

Unfortuately no other names have presented themselves as yet but here are the others anyway!

... and a group shot...

... and the band altogether!

Here come the cavalry (minus horses)

So, our pint-sized hero, now going by the name of Halfred Shortwick, can stop sweating now - backup has arrived. Or at least half has...

First up is Snorrison the Barred (from every Inn in the land...)

He was a mini of a dead Norseman, which wasn't a whole lot of use! I've scultped (use this word lightly!) a crude wooden tankard to bring him back from the dead to a life of Bachanalian pleasures!

Next up we have Dolf Hamrison - a Norse Were and beserker, currently in wolf form!

Think he'll also be useful as a shape-changer for my wood elves too...

And last but not least, Bruni Bersi - the brown bear - a rather taciturn and dour Norse hunter/scout...

"We are plain quiet folk and have no use for adventures. Nasty disturbing uncomfortable things! Make you late for dinner! I can't think what anybody sees in them."

Quite a long title but I rather liked this quote from The Hobbit and I'm sure this little fellow would agree in hindsight...

He marks the start of another little project - a band of adventurers from all walks of life, which I'll hopefully be using as characters in SOBH games. Got some Norsemen to back him up, along with some old world forester types in the paint queue.

Why can't I finish one thing at a time!!!

Gobbo Stickas

Some more sneaky Gobbos for the warband - would like lots of these guys and maybe some spearmen but its going to cost...

Just bog standard, quick paint jobs while I work up the motivation for Ruglud's Armoured Orccs. I've also finally, with some much appreciated help from Hetz (off of Frothers), pieced together enough minis for Harboth's Orc Archers. These will be the core units, along with some boarboyz, of what is actually becoming a small army! I'll have to paint up a  few more elves and have a game of Songs of Blades and Heroes some time soon...

How the mighty are fallen...

As I've been painting up this orc warband some bits of background story have been forming in my mind as to how and why these particular characters have collected together -

As I have a mini of Grom I thought I'd use him as such -

Despite reports of his death during the attack on the Dwarf fortress of the Middenheim, Grom survived badly wounded underneath an enormous pile of corpses. As his infamous Goblin Guard had been defeated along with the armies he had raised in the final battle of the Goblin Wars at Mad Dog Pass, Grom had nowhere to go. Treated as an outcast and a freak, Grom's lot was a wretched one until he encountered his faithful herald, Narx the Whiner, who had joined a wandering band of Orcs. Narx now accompanies Grom with a shrill fanfare everywhere he goes, much to the annoyance of all around him.

Having lost his status as chieftain, Grom was to find new subjects in the form of the small tribe of Snotlings following the Orcs trail of destruction. These diminutive, little wretches form, in Grom's deranged mind, the beginnings of his next rise to power...

The two inebriated characters in the middle were fun to paint - including the carrot chunks and gloss varnish for a wet effect for the puke!

For my second base of snotties I thought I'd try to have them erupying out of their nest/warren!
